If you are looking for a quick overview of Career Success resources or general resume-writing tips, delivered by one of our staff members, these short videos may be viewed asynchronously or presented at your next organization meeting, without having to schedule anything in advance!
The Career Studio is a dynamic, drop-in space in Denney Hall where students can receive real-time career guidance from their peers, without having to make an appointment. Invite your organization to visit the Studio for a quick resume review, job and internship search help, or to learn more about Career Success resources. Available presentation topics are the following: general Career Success overview; general resume/cover letter guidance; general job and internship searching; and using LinkedIn for networking. With awards up to $5,000, the Career Accelerator Fund is designed to open doors to invaluable professional opportunities, empowering your growth and enhancing your career trajectory.
The ASC Match Mentor Program is a college-wide initiative that matches alumni from the College of Arts and Sciences, one-to-one, with current Arts and Sciences majors. This program is a collaboration between the College of Arts and Sciences Center for Career and Professional Success, the College of Arts and Sciences Office of Advancement, and the Arts and Sciences Alumni Society Board.
Career Immersions provide students from the College of Arts and Sciences the opportunity to gain insights into career options by visiting industry leading companies and organizations. Career Immersions consist of site tours, as well as panels, presentations, and networking opportunities with recruiters and hiring managers, many of whom are Ohio State alumni. Local and regional trips are planned, as well as visits to a select group of top U.S. destinations.
The intent of Career Success programming is to offer all students the opportunity to engage in career programs that create connections between students with particular career interests and professionals who have such expertise. Be on the look-out for announcements about these programs throughout the year. Career Readiness Resources
Handshake is a career-networking platform for Ohio State students and recent graduates. Use Handshake to register for programs and events, find internships and employment, and much more. Employers use Handshake when recruiting the high caliber and diverse talent Arts and Sciences students at Ohio State offer.
Big Interview is an online system that combines training AND practice to help improve your interview technique and build your confidence.
Among the many tools for exploring your interests, skills, values and personality is FOCUS 2 Career. This resource is free for all Ohio State students to use and offers a variety of self-assessments that can help you determine your academic and professional potential.
All ASC students have access to access to GoinGlobal, a platform which contains a wealth of information for students looking to obtain internships and/or jobs around the country and around the world.
Students from all majors can execute professional assignments to build and demonstrate skills while exploring a variety of career paths. The Parker Dewey platform allows you to search for and apply to paid micro-internships to build your professional portfolio and network.
Whether you are exploring majors or looking for more information about your chosen field of study, “What Can I Do With This Major?” is a valuable tool designed to help you connect your major and interests to career paths. This resource details the typical industries, career areas, and employers associated with each major and covers strategies aimed at making you a more marketable candidate after graduation. This is a free, virtual resource available to all Ohio State students.
