Joi

The Center for Career Success at The Ohio State University is excited to announce that Joi Brihm-Spann is joining the team as the new internship specialist. A Columbus native, Joi brings a rich background in media and education. Before coming to the university, she worked as manager of business development and operations for a media production company, where she helped media organizations and independent artists gain exposure and media opportunities. She also gained experience in art direction and multimedia production.

Joi previously worked at Ohio State and appreciated the collaborative environment. With more than 10 years of experience in education—including roles in K-12, housing and residence life, academic design, and corporate settings—she is passionate about helping students succeed. She believes that career paths are rarely straightforward and that exploring new opportunities can lead to transformative experiences.

In her new role, Joi aims to make career development a positive, exploratory process. She will help students discover educational pathways that align with their individual goals while introducing fresh perspectives to experiential learning. Joi is committed to creating meaningful connections between students and employers, offering opportunities beyond traditional internships.

She plans to be actively involved in students' career journeys, listening to their needs and connecting them with the right opportunities. Joi also looks forward to working closely with faculty and departments to support students’ career aspirations.

Outside of work, Joi is a lifelong learner who enjoys exploring new interests. A former AmeriCorps member, she is passionate about sports, an amateur sourdough baker, and enjoys planning trips and adventures.

Joi Brihm-Spann’s addition to the Center for Career Success reflects Ohio State’s continued commitment to providing outstanding support for students’ career development.
