Faculty play an integral role in career readiness.
Our goal at the Center for Career and Professional Success is to share resources and partner with you in designing and integrating career preparation experiences that support students’ professional growth.
Curricular Integration (for classroom engagement)
Does your syllabus highlight skills sought by employers? Incorporate NACE Readiness Competencies that align with your course on your syllabus. Also, introduce students to the Center for Career and Professional Success. Beyond resumes, we connect ASC students with resources to achieve professional goals. This includes refining application materials, improving job search strategies, and expanding professional networks. Start by asking students if they have activated their Handshake account. Students can use their Handshake account for access to career events, internships, jobs, and 1:1 coaching. To learn more about Career Success, visit the in-person Career Studio or contact asccareer@osu.edu.
All faculty and staff can access career development modules in Carmen, featuring assignments and activities for syllabus or Carmen course inclusion. These tasks connect students with exploratory resources, listed below. Many assignments promote attending Career Success events or staff meetings. Please submit this form to notify us of your due dates, helping us manage space and staffing.
Explore our video archive on our YouTube channel for an array of Career Success resources and resume-writing tips from our staff. These brief videos can be seamlessly integrated into a Carmen course or presented in your classroom, requiring no prior scheduling. Survey course instructors are encouraged to utilize content from the Carmen modules. (LINK TO SURVEY MODULES?).
Our Peer Career Coaches are ready to deliver career-related content to your students, in the classroom or in a Career Studio visit. For tailored presentations by a professional Career Coach, we ask for 6-8 weeks' notice and expect strong attendance. Due to staff limitations and timing, we might not fulfill every request. Use our request form here. (LINK TBA).
