Our LA Adventure in TV and Animation
We are excited to share the incredible experiences of our ASC students during their recent trip to Los Angeles. This adventure gave them a rare chance to dive into the heart of the television and animation industries, connecting with inspiring professionals and Ohio State alumni who are making waves in Hollywood.
Our journey began with a visit to BUCK Design, a global creative studio known for its innovative projects. The students were captivated by a presentation, a behind-the-scenes tour, and an engaging Q&A with the operations team, including an Ohio State alum. The excitement continued at Warner Bros. Animation, where students explored the studio and had insightful discussions with the animation team. A standout moment was the in-depth conversation with the Senior Vice President of Current Series, all thanks to an alum who organized the visit.
At Amazon MGM Studios, our students, along with Dean Horn, toured the impressive facilities and enjoyed lunch with five executives. The experience was further enriched with a visit to Apple TV+, where an Ohio State alum provided an insider’s look into the company's innovative approach to content creation. That evening, the ASC Office of Advancement hosted a mixer at LouLou Santa Monica for our students to practice their networking skills with Ohio State alumni working in the LA area.
The next morning, we headed to Nickelodeon Animation Studios for a breakfast panel with four industry experts, followed by a tour of their vibrant studio. Afterward, students explored the Getty Museum, where an Ohio State alum guided them through the stunning exhibits, blending art with storytelling.
Our final destination was Titmouse Inc., an animation studio celebrated for its creative spirit. Here, students toured the studio, met with the team, and engaged in a lively Q&A session with key creatives and producers.
This journey was more than just a trip—it was an eye-opening experience that offered our students a unique glimpse into the world of professional animation and TV production. We are incredibly grateful to Dean Horn for joining us and the Ohio State alumni who welcomed us and shared their valuable insights.
We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Andrew Freeman, Scott Kustis, and Barbara Harvey. Their dedication and support were crucial in making this unforgettable experience possible.
