Calling all graduate students and postdocs!
Are you interested in exploring or finding a position in industry?
The Graduate Student & Postdoc Industry Recruitment Event (GSPIRE) is the perfect opportunity for individuals with advanced degrees to connect with various industries and organizations. The GSPIRE career fairs will take place on campus on September 23rd, and virtually on October 22nd. These career fairs are exclusive to graduate students and postdocs like you—no undergraduates will be in attendance! We invite you to join us and connect with top employers and organizations seeking bright minds like yours.
This event is being organized in collaboration with the Ohio State Postdoctoral Association, which offers support, advocacy, and opportunities for our institution's diverse postdoctoral community. OUAB is also a valued partner, providing valuable services and resources for the graduate student population across campus. Additionally, OSU’s Council for Graduate Students (CGS) and Females of Chemistry Uniting Scientists (FOCUS) are co-sponsoring our career fairs, contributing to the planning, promotion, execution, and volunteer coordination.
All individuals, from first-year graduate students to postdocs and alumni, are welcome to participate. Whether you are considering a career in academia or industry, this event will provide valuable networking opportunities and the chance to explore and secure professional employment in the industry.

POSTDOCS & HANDSHAKE
Postdocs who are listed as Post-Doctoral Scholars or Post-Doctoral Scholar-NRSA in Workday are eligible for a free Handshake account. They can request this account by emailing Buckeye Careers (handshake@osu.edu) and providing their full name, department, and employee ID (the 9-digit number on your Buck ID). For those who are not listed as Post-Doctoral Scholars/NRSA in Workday, attendance at the virtual career fair may not be possible, but participation in the in-person event is still an option. Additionally, you can still share your resume with all companies, both virtually and in-person.
Graduating Soon?
Individuals who are due to graduate in Dec 2024 or May/August/Dec 2025 are strongly encouraged to submit a resume (not a C.V.) using the provided link in the registration confirmation email. It's possible to submit a resume even if you are unable to attend the events, as all industry partners will receive all resumes submitted. Submitting a resume is not mandatory for event registration, but it is recommended for individuals pursuing a career in industry, as it allows industry partners to track their progress over the next few years.
NOTE: You are not required to submit a resume to attend either event. If you do submit your resume, it is NOT equal to registering for the event—don’t forget to register on Handshake too! You are also highly encouraged to bring multiple copies of your resume to the in-person event.
The deadline for resume submissions is Monday, September 9th at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. It is advised to submit resumes early to account for any potential technical difficulties. Adding a resume on Handshake is also recommended, as it is a useful platform for job searching and applications at your level.
Companies participating in this event will exclusively offer internships and professional positions for Postdocs, PhDs, and Master's level students/staff. The list of attending companies may expand closer to the event date, so it's important to check back frequently for updates.
For assistance with converting a C.V. to a resume or improving interviewing skills, individuals can utilize resources provided by Buckeye Careers (https://careers.osu.edu/workshops), ASC Graduate Student Professional Success (https://asccareersuccess.osu.edu/graduate-students-and-postdocs), Engineering Career Services (https://ecs.osu.edu) or attend workshops offered by your department or career services office (https://careers.osu.edu/students/career-services-offices).
Please note that if you require any accommodations such as live captioning or interpretation to fully participate in this event, please contact asccareer@osu.edu. Requests made two weeks before the event will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
Get ready to take your future to the next level. We look forward to seeing you there!
