The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is a federal law enforcement agency within the U.S. Department of Justice. ATF works to protect communities by enforcing federal laws related to firearms, explosives, arson, alcohol, and tobacco.
 
ATF professionals play a key role in:
  • Combating violent crime and criminal organizations
  • Investigating illegal firearms trafficking and use
  • Preventing arson, bombings, and acts of terrorism
  • Partnering with local, state, and federal agencies to enhance public safety
