Each session in the series will be led by industry or government professionals or HR staff and will contribute to your career development in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to:    - Career exposure    - Professional development & skill building for the transition to industry    - Preparation for interviews    - Insights and tips on leveraging career-related tools and resources (e.g., LinkedIn)     This series is a mix of in-person and virtual modality. Thanks to our co-sponsors in Ohio State's Military and Veteran's Services, we will offer coffee and donuts to fuel the discussion during in-person sessions.     On Wednesday, July 13th from 10:30-11:30am ET, Scott Rusin from Arrakis Therapeutics will talk about the reality of the transition from the Academy to industry and the importance of speed in an industry setting. He will share strategies for making that transition seamless.     Arrakis has a simple but powerful vision: To extend small-molecule medicines into new realms of biology, unlocking that biology for medicine. Our approach builds on the existing sophisticated drug discovery toolkit developed for protein targets, which we are adapting and refocusing on discovering small-molecule compounds that act directly on RNA.     Register For This Event Presenters: Scott Rusin, in his current role at Arrakis Therapeutics, leads a small team that utilizes mass spectrometry to identify RNA-binding small molecules and to characterize these binding events, as well as also building the internal proteomics capabilities for the company. Before Arrakis, Scott worked with Kymera Therapeutics where he ran the lab-side operations for the proteomics group using discovery proteomics to understand the targets and mechanism of action of targeted protein degrading molecules.     Scott did a Post Doc at Harvard Medical School where he utilized sample multiplexing combined with mass spectrometry-based phosphoproteomics to understand EGF signaling in human breast cancer. Scott completed his PhD at Dartmouth University. His thesis work involved proteomics approaches to decipher Phosphoprotein Phosphatase 6 signaling in mitosis. Prior to Dartmouth, Scott worked at the Broad where he participated in Project Achilles, an effort to utilize genome-scale RNAi based screening to identify lineage-specific dependencies in cancer cell lines. Scott completed his B.S. in Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology at Arizona State University.     This event will be ideal for PhD students and postdocs in the following/related fields: Any STEM disciplines Political Science Intelligence & Security   Register now to ensure your spot.
